The Top-Player Research Process That Generated 1.3 Million Views

Case Study Overview

Tyler Kallasy is a physical therapist and pain specialist who runs his own practice called Beyond Pain. When we started working together in January 2025, Tyler already had around 25,000 followers on Instagram and was posting regularly with good engagement. The issue was that his content ideas were coming from inspiration rather than strategy. There was no repeatable process behind what he posted, which meant his results had no repeatable pattern either.

Without a plan to guide what to post, Tyler's reel performance was inconsistent. His reels would range between 2,000 and 5,000 views, but there was no way to predict which direction a post would go because there was no process in place to study what was working and build on it. Good reel engagement happened randomly, and without a system to recognize the patterns behind them, those results could not be repeated consistently. The goal was to build a content planning process rooted in market research and data analysis so that Tyler had a reliable way to identify the content his audience wanted to see before anything was actively being searched for. That way, strong reel engagement could become a reliable outcome rather than a happy accident.

Implemented Strategy

1. Top-Player Market Research — Finding Content That Already WorksBefore any content was planned or edited, the first step was research. This meant analyzing what was already working in the physical therapy and pain specialist space by looking at high-performing accounts and reverse-engineering their success. This approach is called top-player market research. Instead of coming up with content ideas from scratch, you look at what the algorithm is already rewarding in your niche. Other creators have already done the testing. Their views, comments, and shares tell you exactly what topics and formats are connecting with the audience you are trying to reach. The goal is not to copy what they did. The goal is to take an idea that's already working, understand why it resonated with people, and rebuild it in a way that fits Tyler's specific voice, credentials, and patient community. This single step takes the guesswork out of content planning.Every idea that made it onto Tyler's content calendar had already been pre-validated by his target audience before it was ever turned into content.2. The 3 Ps Planning Framework — Patterns, Positioning, PersonaOnce the concept was identified, it was shaped into a concrete content plan tailored to Tyler. This meant deciding how the idea would be framed through his specific experience as a pain specialist, what angle would resonate most with the patients he was trying to reach, and how to structure the reel so that it felt natural and credible coming from him rather than generic.Every decision at this stage was guided by the 3 Ps framework:Patterns — The idea was chosen because it reflected a recurring topic that audiences in Tyler's niche were actively engaging with. Relatable patient and client experiences kept surfacing as the highest-performing content category across top accounts in the space, which made it the logical starting point.Positioning — Once the pattern was identified, the concept was rebuilt around Tyler's unique angle as a physical therapist and pain specialist. The goal was to take what was already working in Tyler's niche and make it feel like it could only come from him.Persona — The final check was whether the finished reel and caption actually sounded like Tyler. Content that doesn't match a creator's creative style tends to underperform, even when the topic is strong. Every element of the reel was reviewed against Tyler's personal brand before it was ever posted.3. Planning and Editing — Tyler's Only Role Was to Post ItOnce the content plan was finalized, all that was left to do was edit the reel. The research was done, the reel was edited, and the caption was written using the Hook, Lesson, and Call to Action framework. Tyler's only responsibility was to hit post.4. Caption Structure — The Hook, Lesson, and Call to Action FormulaThe reel was accompanied by a caption that followed the HLC framework:Hook — The opening line was written to grab attention immediately and give the viewer a reason to keep reading.Lesson — The body of the caption delivered the core value of the post, giving the audience something genuinely useful or thought-provoking to take away.Call to Action — Every caption ended with a clear, specific prompt designed to encourage likes, shares, reposts, or saves. In this case, the goal was to get people to share the reel so Instagram would circulate it to more non-followers.This structure made sure that this reel would work on two levels at once. The reel pulled the views, and the caption converted that attention into meaningful engagement.

Content That Was Created

The focus of this case study is a single reel that reached 1.3 million views. This didn't happen by chance. It was the direct output of the research and planning process described above, executed from start to finish before Tyler ever hit post. The 1.3 Million View ReelConcept: The reel was built around a relatable patient and client experience in the physical therapy space. This topic came from looking at what was already working for the biggest accounts in Tyler's niche.

Creation Process: The content planning, video editing and copywriting were all handled as part of a standard content system used for each client. Everything else was prepared in advance so that the reel wouldn't need any revisions made on the day of posting.Performance: The reel reached 1,386,408 total views, generated 12,000 likes, 88 comments, 2,300 shares, and 452 saves. Total watch time accumulated to 76 days across a single piece of content. 99.5% of those views came from non-followers, meaning the reel didn't just circulate within Tyler's existing audience. It introduced him to an entirely new pool of potential followers and clients.

Results Overview

1. Top-Performing ReelBefore: Tyler's reels ranged between 2,000 and 5,000 views with no predictable pattern and no system in place to understand what was driving the difference. After: The top-performing reel reached 1,386,408 total views, generated 15,134 total interactions, accumulated 76 days of watch time, and drove 137 profile visits from a single post. 99.5% of its views came from non-followers.This reel performed the way it did because of the research process that came before it. The idea was identified through top-player market research, validated by audience behaviour in the physical therapy space, and then repurposed for Tyler's target audience.

2. Accounts ReachedBefore: Tyler's content was getting him non-followers profile visits, but the engagement was inconsistent, and his content strategy wasn't refined for attracting more non-followers.After: Over the 90-day window from March 26 to June 23, 2025, Tyler's content reached 1,063,039 accounts, a jump of +1,158.6% in accounts reached. Of all views during that period, 83.1% came from non-followers. That means the overwhelming majority of people seeing Tyler's content were discovering him for the first time.3. Total Views2,108,056 total views were generated after working with Tyler. The single top-performing reel accounted for 1,386,408 of those views on its own, confirming that a well-researched, well-positioned piece of content can outperform months of unplanned posting.

Conclusion

Top-player market research is not about copying what other creators are doing. It is about pattern recognition. It is about identifying what the algorithm is already rewarding in your niche, understanding why it is working, and rebuilding it around your client's voice and audience before anything is ever filmed. That is exactly what happened here. Instead of brainstorming content ideas from scratch, the research came first. Top accounts in the physical therapy space were studied, the highest-performing content categories were identified, and the concept was pre-validated before Tyler ever picked up his phone to film. From there, the planning, editing, and copywriting were all handled so that Tyler's only responsibility was to just post the reel. This is the process that caused a single reel to get 1.3 million views. That's what happens when content planning stops being a creative exercise and starts being a research process. If you are struggling to find the right content ideas and want a repeatable research process like this working for your brand, click the button below and book your free strategy session.

How SEO and GEO Took a TikTok Account from 0 to 2K+ Followers

Case Study Overview

Kyle Moschetto is an AI and cybersecurity specialist who came to me in May 2025 wanting to build a TikTok presence from scratch. No followers. No videos. No existing audience. Just a deep level of expertise in a niche that was starting to pick up serious traction online. The goal was straightforward: Build Kyle a TikTok account that would grow consistently, reach the right audience, and position him as a credible voice in the AI and cybersecurity space. But instead of just posting content and hoping it would get engagement, the strategy was built around something most creators in his niche weren't doing: using TikTok Creator Search Insights combined with SEO and GEO principles to make sure every video had a real chance of being discovered. Not just by TikTok users. But by LLMs like Perplexity, Gemini, and ChatGPT as well.Within 60 days, Kyle's account grew from 0 to over 2,000+ followers, with multiple videos getting 10k-90k views.

Implemented Strategy

1. Top-Player Research — Finding What Already Works in the NicheBefore any content was planned or filmed, the first step was the same as it always is: research. This meant looking at accounts in the AI and cybersecurity space that were already getting strong engagement and identifying what topics and formats were consistently performing well. The goal was not to copy what those accounts were doing. The goal was to find pre-validated content ideas and rebuild them around Kyle's specific expertise and perspective. Every idea that made it onto Kyle's content planner had proven to work for other creators before any content was created.2. TikTok Creator Search Insights — An Unfair Advantage Most Creators Aren't UsingOne of the biggest parts of this strategy was using TikTok Creator Search Insights, and it's something that's not being talked about enough in the content creation space. TikTok Creator Search Insights is a tool inside TikTok that shows you what topics people are actively searching for on the platform. Most people still aren't even using it to help them create content.Through TikTok Search Insights, a topic called Walter Writes AI was identified as a rising search term. People were starting to look it up on TikTok, but very few creators had made content around it yet. That's exactly the kind of opportunity this TikTok feature is built to find. Getting ahead of a rising search term before it peaks means your content is already sitting there when the search volume grows. Kyle was one of the first creators to post about it, and that video went on to reach 67k+ views.

3. SEO — Embedding Keywords So the Right People Find the ContentGetting views is one thing. Getting found consistently by the right audience is another. To make sure Kyle's content kept showing up in searches over time, relevant keywords were embedded directly into each video. This meant working the search term naturally into the script so that TikTok's algorithm could connect the video to what people were actively looking for.For the Walter Writes AI video specifically, the keyword was built into the way Kyle talked about the topic, so it felt natural on camera while still being optimized for search. The result was a video that not only performed well on launch but continued to come up in searches long after it was posted.

4. GEO — Getting Cited by LLMs Like Perplexity and GeminiThis is where the strategy went beyond standard TikTok content. GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization, and it's the practice of structuring content so that LLMs like Perplexity, Gemini, and ChatGPT will pull it up and cite it when someone asks a relevant question. For videos covering how to structure a prompt, a specific framework called RGCOA was embedded into every piece of content related to that topic. RGCOA stands for Role, Goal, Context, Objective, and Action. It's a specific framework used for building long-form AI prompts. By consistently embedding that exact phrase in multiple TikTok videos and captions (see caption in the video on the right), Kyle's content became the go-to reference whenever someone searched that topic on Google, and when using LLMs. Now, when you search for short videos on RGCOA using tools like Perplexity, Kyle's content gets cited in the results.

Content That Was Created

Every piece of content that was planned for Kyle's TikTok was planned and optimized using the research and keyword strategy described above. Every video was selected because it either matched a validated trend in the niche or targeted a specific rising search term identified through TikTok Search Insights. The 67K View VideoConcept: This video was built around the Walter Writes AI, a topic identified through TikTok Search Insights as a rising search term in the AI space. Kyle was one of the first creators to post about it, which gave the video an early advantage in search before the topic became oversaturated.Implementation: Keywords were embedded in all of Kyle's most popular videos and in every caption so his TikToks could be easily searched on and off the platform.Performance: The video reached 67k views on TikTok, driving a significant portion of Kyle's early follower growth and establishing his presence in the AI and cybersecurity niche.

Ongoing Content
Beyond Walter Writes AI, multiple other videos performed well on Kyle's TikTok. Each one followed the same research-first process, with topics validated before filming and keywords embedded to support both TikTok search visibility and GEO citation by LLMs.

Results Overview

1. Follower GrowthBefore: 0 followers and 0 videos (The "before" photo was actually taken after one week of working together.).After: 2,000+ followers gained within 60 days of launching the account (current total is 2547).

2. Top-Performing VideoBefore: No content, no visibility, no search presence in the niche. After: The Walter Writes AI video reached 67k+ views, with 99% of those views coming from non-followers and 79% from new viewers. The video generated 1,884 likes, 65 comments, 194 shares, and 1,299 saves.3. Search VisibilityBefore: No presence in TikTok search results or LLM citations. After: Kyle's content now appears consistently in TikTok search results for targeted keywords, and his RGCOA videos are regularly cited by LLMs like Perplexity and Gemini when users search that topic.

Conclusion

Most creators treat TikTok like a broadcast platform. You post, you hope it reaches people, and you move on. This strategy was built around a different idea.Every video was planned around what people were already searching for, optimized so TikTok's algorithm could connect it to the right audience, and structured so LLMs would pull it up and cite it when relevant questions were asked. That combination of top-player research, TikTok Search Insights, SEO, and GEO is what took Kyle's account from from 0 to 2,000+ followers in under 60 days. It is what turned one video into 67k+ views, 1,884 likes, 1,299 saves, and a 99% non-follower reach in a niche he had no presence in just two months earlier. If you are struggling to get your content discovered and want a research process that uses SEO and GEO to put your videos in front of the right audience, click the button below and book your free strategy session.
